When it comes to the battle of Public Relations (PR) and Journalists
it’s like a love hate relationship. Depending on what the topic of the
discussion is all depends on what side of the table they are sitting on. If a story
being covered is going against the reputation of one of their clients, is what
is called a, “PR Nightmare.” It doesn’t matter if the journalist’s story is
true or false in regard to the clients it’s the PR’s job to make that clients
shine even in the darkest corners of the room. Managing reputations is what
they do it’s their purpose to influence the public opinion of their client by
any media means necessary. The conflict occurs when a journalist conduct
research on a story and publishes a story that is newsworthy to the public but
damaging to the client of a PR, but not all journalistic stories are negative in
the public eye. Some story can in fact help the PR’s job by building the
reputation of the client. A journalist depending on the market is typically
larger than a PR’s because of the media outlets of choice. Their relationship is
like night and day it all depends on the
battle.
